Little Oscar found himself in a bind in South Carolina. Oscar was one of 5 pups that GROWL took in after a hoarder released some of her dogs to the kill shelter. Oscar and his "friends" were intercepted by a shelter volunteer that reached out to GROWL for assistance. Oscar soon found his way to New Jersey via one of the many GROWL transports. Julie and Sean had been looking for awhile for a quiet little terrier and Oscar surely fit the bill. He went on a foster to adopt and as you can guess, a few days later Julie and Sean let GROWL know that little Oscar had indeed found his second chance!

Winston is a Staten Island Boy!

"Winnie" oh "Winnie" how you steal everyones heart! Winston was seized from a hoarder in South Carolina. He was one of more than 60 animals seized. His "siblings", Greta and Trinity, which you can see further down in the blog were also part of the seizure. These sweeties all made their way to the local county high kill animal shelter. They were then placed on death row. GROWL visited the shelter and saw these precious souls and many were rescued. Little Winston was the male in the group and very tiny. He was a little untrusting and still is uneasy around men. His new mom Dawn was fostering him for GROWL and bonded with him immediately. It was not long before Dawn was buying him coats, collars, shirts, leashes and every single cute item around. Why would she do this? He was only a foster baby right? Wrong! Winston clearly was never leaving the Orlando home. He has 2 fursisters Holly and Shiloh. He is still slowly learning to trust his dad though and continues to progress. He clearly made a bond with his new mommy though as it was love at first sight I think with those two! So now Winnie is a little Staten Island boy!

Greta and Trinity the Tripod ~ Moved In & Wouldnt Leave!

The days were not all this great in South Carolina. Trinity, a little tripod dachshund and Greta,a littermate of hers, found themselves in a high kill shelter in South Carolina. These 2 ladies were among over 60 that were seized due to a hoarder that have over 60 dachshunds and chihuahuas. Greta and Trinty were offered a foster home in New Jersey with Sue and Rich whom had adopted Sir Lancealot from GROWL previously. Greta and Trinity immediately bonded with Susan and still taking stepping stones with Rich. Theselittle ladies would steal your heart if you gave it to them, and well....thats exactly what happened to Susan. Greta went out on a foster to adopt in New York and yelped when she was separated from Trinity. Susan of course was a bit upset as well. None of these 3 were happy. A few days later Greta was reunited wth Trinity and Susan when I made a home visit to see Greta and she had yet to come out of her shell and was hiding until she saw me and didn't leave my side. I reunited her with Trinity and Susan. Rich and Lance surely have their hands full now as there are 4 females in the house and 2 males. But as you can see clearly everyone is happy!

Uno ~ The "Bully & the Baby" of The Litter

Little Uno was the Baby Boy of the group, yes the little runt and he was in a special foster home to make sure he thrived. In the end, he also became a little bully when he rejoined the group. He thought he was the big dog and didn't have to give in to any of them! He was quite the character. YES, Uno was also the one on the Martha Stewart show that jumped from one pen to the other unexpectedly! He is and was quite the litttle mischief man, everyone loved him and his personality. Uno found his forever home with Natalia and Paul in Mahopac and has been doing quite well as you can see, he is one HUGE Big Man!
Uno is also named Buddy and huge thanks to Natalia and Paul for welcoming Buddy into their home and choosing to rescue!

Milo ~ Loves Soaking Up The Rays In New Jersey!

Milo was in South Carolina when GROWL got the call to try and assist in placing him. He was in a rescue and had not had much interest as he was a adult and sometimes it takes a long time for them to find homes in the South. He was transported up to New Jersey and found the perfect home with Karen and Al! As you can see he loves soaking up the sun and relaxing! He gets very spoiled and also has other Boston family furkids as well he plays with. Milo is pretty spoiled and doing excellent and we want to thank Karen and Al for welcoming Milo into their home and giving him the love he deserves!

We also would like to thank Karen and Al for fostering Harvey when he too was looking for his forever home. Harvey is the black and white Boston below that was also rescued from South Carolina high kill shelter. Unknown to anyone Harvey had a heart disease that took him away from all of us way too soon. Harvey is missed by everyone that knew him as he touched so many lives while he was on this earth and slept in all of our beds and cuddled with us all. His blue eye was beautiful, and even though the people in the South gave up on him GROWL did not and thanks to Karen, AL and many wonderful people along the way Harvey saw the love and care he deserved until the very end. We ALL miss you Harvey and you are truly missed!

*Strummer Struts His Stuff in Hoboken*

Strummer (Tango) has a knack for strutting his stuff along the streets of Hoboken! Strummer was rescued from the Camden South Carolina kill shelter. He was vetted and transported to New Jersey via GROWL. Once in New Jersey a meet and greet was set up with June for her to meet Juliet and Strummer. She had a immediate attraction to Strummber. As a first time dog owner June wanted to make sure Strummer had all he needed. A few days later, with dog walker, doggie daycare and everything all set up June and Strummer made the adoption official. I have seen Strummer on occasion and he has blossomed into a WONDERFUL man! Being a adult pup in a shelter in SC he had little chance and from the moment I laid eyes on Strummer has always had a special place in my heart because he was right when you opened the kennel door at the shelter just looking at me with those little basset hound legs that point outward! Ready to go, I had a full van for 2 trips but told them if his day came I would take him but he would have to wait until the scheduled 3rd trip, well he stayed and was there waiting when it was time for us to go! I am very happy to have adopted him to June and I can tell you that this boy knows love now and has the best care I could ever wish for!
Here is Strummer in Ariels tub at NYC Disney!

~ Kissable Kirby Found His Forever Home in New York ~

Kirby was rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina. He was transported via GROWL to New Jersey and was in search for his forever loving home. Kirby was adopted on a foster to adopt situation and everything worked out perfectly! Erica is a pastor in New York and as it came out while talking to Erica she actually lived in South Carolina for 9 years and was very familiar with Kirbys home area! Congrats Kirby and Erica and we look forward to more pictures and updates to come!
Derby ~ The Gentle "Big Brother"

Within the past couple of months Laurie and Mike welcomed little babygirl Finley into the world and the Derby boy has been the most amazing Big Brother! I was updating the blog and got a great email from Lauri and these really awesome pics. Lauri is also a photographer and you can view her work at www.laleephotography.com.
Hey Dawn!
Saw you are updating the blog and just wanted to tell you how proud we are of our Derby! He became a big brother this year and has been nothing but sweet and gentle with his little sister Finley. She is OBSESSED with him too. She has even started imitating his doggy sounds!
I've attached a couple Derby photos (notice the one where he takes advantage of his little sister getting attention to sneak some food off the counter). We love our Derby Dog!!
Lauri :)

You can see below that Derby still has his sneeky side!

Smush (Sassie) Makes Memories With Katie and Matt!

Sassie has a very special meaning that will be remembered forever! Her new dad Matt emailed about her and asked to meet her. Sassie was being taken care of by a great foster mom Norma. Matt went over to meet Sassie and fell in love with her. Sassie was tiny at the time and had not eaten well the last day and so she went to the vet for a little boost of fluids. On the day when Matt was to pick up Sassie I had decided to bring Sassie back to South Carolina and I would bring her back again in two weeks once we were certain she was ready. Matt was pretty upset and once he explained it I fully understood. We came to a understanding about Sassie and what to do if indeed she had any other eating issues in the next few days and Matt picked her her up and took her home. Little miss Sassie was going to be a huge surprise that night as Matt proposed to his new fiance Katie! Needless to say she was a pretty big part of the evening and Katie indeed said yes! Sassie is a hit in Hoboken and makes a statement on the streets as she is precious! Congrats to Katie and Matt and congrats to Sassie for finding her forever home and making Katies proposal so very special! Oh, and by the way her new name is Smush and we love it!!!

Katie, Dawn and Smush!
