Nessie (formerly Bella) is quite the little nut! She always has been up to mischief and loves to play and act a little crazy! She always has kept us all guess and she still keeps Lucy on her toes. She is always doing something cute and the loads of pictures Lucy has proves it! Nessie was rescued from South Carolina and now lives in Edgewater with Lucy and the family. I got this recently from Lucy so I decided to quote it! Thanks Lucy for giving Nessie the love and care she deserves and always snapping those pictures that keep me grinning!
" I wanted to let you know, she's doing great. She spends her days napping, playing (she loves any and all toys) and begging for food. I try to be a strict disciplinarian but my parents spoil her rotten. Can't blame them though. She's seriously cute. She's brought us so much joy and she's the best thing to happen to my household.
Little RJ was adopted to the lovely Jovely from New Jersey. RJ was rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina. He quickly adjusted to being a king and has been spoiled since Jovely layed eyes on him. Jovely has announced that she is expecting so RJ will have a new friend in the next few months and we want to say congrats to the family and we cant wait to hear more news and updates as they come! Little Molly was rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina. As an adult, its harder for them to find homes in the south than the itty bitty puppies and well she also was black. Her odds were not good in South Carolina. She was rescued, vetted and transported via GROWL to New Jersey. She soon found her perfect fit in Brooklyn, New York! Jill and Jeff met Molly and fostered to adopt her and they fell in love with little Molly! We are waiting on a song to be wrote and sang about Molly (hint hint Jeff). As always, Molly deserves all the love and care she is receiving and thanks go out to Jill and Jeff for loving Molly and saving a life!
It seems as time has unfolded that Baxter has found his buddy in Bryan. Baxter was rescued from a shelter in South Carolina. He was transported along with his mom Pippy and the rest of the litter to NJ via GROWL. The litter all found excellent loving homes (Bruce in the post below is Baxters brother). Baxter lives in New Jersey now with the Cammerinos and is growing up to be a very handsome little man! Thanks to the Cammerinos for adopting and saving a life!
If you see a little cutie coming down the streets in Brooklyn, his name is Bruce! His mommy Coral fell in love with him after he was rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina and transported via GROWL to New Jersey. Since his mommy is a hat maker its fitting he has a photo session in a hat! He looks absolutely adorable! Thanks Coral for opening your home to a rescued GROWLKID and saving a life!
Jada (formerly named Dippy) was rescued from South Carolina. She was transported to New Jersey via GROWL with her sister Tippy in search of their forever homes! Kimberly and Chris came to meet Dippy and fell in love with her! She quickly became the queen of the house! Kimberly and Chris were newlyweds and had their first furkid as well, so exciting! They make a awesome family and GROWL is proud to have adopted to the Sullivans and we always love their updates! Kisses to Jada and thanks to you both!
Axl (formerly named Ralphie) is loving his new home and the SNOW in New Jersey! His new mommy Amanda updated GROWL recently with his updated photo and boy his is lanky and large just like she said! He is quite handsome and a very lucky "little man". He was rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina and transported via GROWL to his new and forever home in Freehold, New Jersey. Congrats to Amanda and her family and GROWL thanks you so much for opening your home to a rescued furkid!
Ina is now prancing around and taking over DC! Ina is a little applehead chihuahua that has found her forever home in DC with her new mom Emily! She was rescued from South Carolina and transported up to Washington via GROWL. Little Ina also has a new kitty friend in her new home as well. They are still learning a bit from each other but progressing everyday! Ina has to get used to the cold as she wears her cute little sweater and has many outfits to change into so she stays warm! Thanks to Emily for opening her home to Little Ina and loving her like she so very much deserves!
Sir Lancelot was rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina. The poor baby had no hair on his ears and very little on his tail. He was very stressed out! He was rescued from the shelter and then vetted and transported via GROWL to NJ. Susan spotted this baby online and wanted to meet him as he was still available for adoption. He went for a foster to adopt situation and as you can see he fit right in with Susan and her family. We are also happy to report that he now has hair on his ears and his tail! Also, as you can see he also loves to snuggle!
Moose and Tracker have grown into 2 HUGE couch potatoes and lovebugs!! These 2 babies were formerly Ace and Jedi and rescued from a kill shelter in Kentucky. They were transported to New Jersey and after interviewing quite a few people for these babies GROWL was able to place them together in their forever home with Patrick and Kristin. As you can see they are just 2 HUGE goofballs! When they came from the shelter they were a huge hit with all the fosters, volunteers and everyone but adopting them together was essential as they are so very bonded they look for each other when alone and take care of each other like no 2 dogs I had ever seen. Huge thanks to Kristen and Patrick for adopting these babies and kisses to Moose and Tracker from every heart they touched on the transport and everyone they met along the way!
Zoey (formerly Sassy) is doing great with her new mommy Emily in MA. She is growing every single day and has learned so many commands already (sit, shake, down,roll over, circle the legs and is learning to sit and spin! Oh and her mommy says she has a extra long tail! Zoey was orginally rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina and was transported and adopted to Emily.

Madoc was rescued from a kill shelter in Greenwood, SC. Madoc had what looked to have been burned by a cigarette in quite a few places. Madoc also had some skin allergy issues. These were resolved and treated and he soon found his forever home in PA with Jill and her family. Madoc is finally receiving the love and care he so deserves.
Tyler and Landon were rescued from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. Tyler was found to be heartworm positive. Landon was luckily negative. Both of these boys were neutered and Tyler was treated for the unfortunate disease of heartworms. They are now both looking for their forever home. Landon is extremely shy so it is best if these boys are placed together. Tyler takes the lead and Landon always follows. Curtis was a 9 year old Maltese pulled from a kill shelter in Greenville, SC. Curtis found his way to New Jersey the weekend of October 11th, thanks to dedicated volunteer transport drivers. When he arrived, his foster mom Sue fell instantly for Curtis, he was indeed a very special boy. As it turns out, Curtis was actually about 12 years old, completely deaf and also almost completely blind. Curtis was also matted beyond belief. He got a complete shavedown on Monday in New York and was checked by our vet on Monday as well. As it turns out Curtis was in heart failure. Although he was acting ok Sat/Sun, by Monday he wasnt eating much. Upon examination by our vet, along with the heart failure Curtis also had extremely bad teeth with puss pockets that were so infected and draining that they were contributing to the pain of the rotten teeth and the heart failure. This poor little man seemed to never get a step ahead! Though through all of this, his foster mommy Sue stayed by Curtis' side and provided Curtis with the most love and compassion that he could have asked for. For this, we are thankful for the Judges and the love and support they had for Curtis.
Sadly, over the weekend Curtis took a turn for the worse and he was in alot of pain. He was taken to the Emergency Veterinary Clinic on Sunday and was given some Lasix to drain the fluid from around his heart, but his poor body was just tired. Curtis went over to the Rainbow Bridge today (Oct 19) and is now running free of the horrible pain and suffering.

Sadie was rescued from a kill shelter in South Carolina. She made her way to New Jersey and was searching for her forever home. Alex and Ben found Sadie and welcomed her into their home. Alex emailed us some cute pictures of Sadie in her new home and also said that Sadie is a very quick learner! Sadie is yet another very lucky GROWLKID and her future looks very bright!!
Jesse is from the litter of Bichons we rescued from a breeder in PA. Shortly after we rescued them in 2008 Rosalind adopted Jesse and well she has been happy everyday from day one! He was about 3 months when he was rescued and he is already 17 months now!!! Wow!! A little bit about Jesse below is what his fur-mommy Rosalind sent us!
Everyone loves him....he is a non-registered "therapy dog" as I am a psychotherapist and he comes to work with me all the time. He is in one lap after another all day. People see him from across the street and point b/c he is so friggin CUTE!!!
As with every baby we rescue, we are sooooo happy to see Jesse doing so well and getting the love and care he so deserves!!! Oh and yes he is related to Tully in one of the earlier posts...not sure how but they came during the same rescue....
Stu finally made it on the transport headed north from South Carolina and into his forever home! He had a case of kennel cough but his new family waited patiently on him. His new name is Cody and as you can see he is being smothered with the love he deserves. Justin and Amanda are sure to make everyday a wonderful day for Cody! He is even pretty much housetrained after only a couple of days and also gets along well with their other dog Maggie.
Yet another GROWLKID happy and loved the way all furkids should be!!!
This blog post is in memory of a Honorary GROWLKID, Max. Max crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge 07/01/09. Max was a great little cocker spaniel that I met just a couple of months ago in New Jersey. His family was a little concerned that Max was starting to get a little temper and wasn't acting like himself. With a new baby coming along, and another little one in the house they really were having to think on the basis of the family, but yet really didn't want to give up on Max. They were referred to GROWL by our foster Stacy that knew them well and also knew that I have a strong weakness for cockers. We talked for awhile at Stacys and I spoke to them about cockers and the fact that Max had grown up as a puppy with them, and for all of these years and never had a issue and it really made no sense to me. We spoke about it being a medical issue with Max and maybe he was trying to tell us something was wrong but well, can't really say it and he just didnt feel good when he was having his "cockertude". For some strange reason when I was there with Max and talking to them it just seemed like the answer. A week or so after I got a message from Angie that it was a pulled muscle in Max's back and he was much better and things were going great! Of course this made me very happy as Max and his family loved each other and it was very apparent!!!
Recently I saw where Max had crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge and Angie has told me Max had a emergency on July 1st and a tumor on his spleen had ruptured and there was no more they could do for him. Angie and John were right with Max as he crossed over and now he is playing pain free and happy at the Rainbow Bridge!
I am very happy that Max was able to stay his final months with Angie and John and they were there for him until the end. I feel very honored to have met this awesome couple and Max, they never gave up on him and I admire that so very much!!
"Little" Miss Lucy was rescued in June of 2008 from South Carolina. Lucy made her way up north via GROWL transport and soon found her furever home in Brooklyn, New York! Casey sent me these updated pictures of Lucy today and man oh man I am grinning from ear to ear! This "Little" girl has grown into such a BEAUTY!!! As you can see she is so very happy!

Hi Dawn! I just wanted to check in and share with you how happy we have been this last year with Lucy (formerly Izze from Mauldin SC) We got her June 4th 2008. Our lives have changed drastically for the better! She is a happy Brooklyn puppy that get about 4-6 miles a day as well as lots and lots of fetch! She is even making friends with just about every dog she meets! Thank you again for all you girls do. I attached her pet-finder pic as well as a couple updates of her running and playing in the dog park!
Mathew is a cocker spaniel found in the Bronx and the ASPCA in New York was called in to handle his case. Matty, as we now call him, was a little "territorial" with his toys and treats. We stepped in at the request of the ASPCA and Matty is now a GROWLKID. At the moment Matty is in South Carolina with Dawn and doing alot better. He shares his toys now and food as well and he is wanting to be loved on 24/7.
